On the same day that Toshiba has released there low cost budget model the C55-A5300 they have also released the slightly more powerful alternative in the C55-A5302. This model offers some of the same benefits such as the low price but with a little more power to back it up for those users who need to perform higher end tasks. Even with some of the added horsepower this would still be considered a budget model due to the low price and today we will take a bit closer look at this latest unit from Toshiba and see how it stacks up.
Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302 Specifications

Harddrive: 500 GB SATA
Screen: 15.6 Inch widescreen display

Benefits of the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302
Unlike some of the other low cost budget alternatives the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302 offers you a little more performance to run higher end applications as well as multi-task without pushing the model to it’s limit. While the Intel 2020M processor is not going to give you the performance of a more expensive Intel i5 or i7 model it does have the power to run day to day basic tasks without getting bogged down.
Just like it’s cheaper alternative the C55-A5300 the memory on this model is expandable all the way to 16 GB which allows you to give it a needed boost in performance quite easily and with the price of memory dropping this can be done without breaking the bank.
The 500GB SATA harddrive that is included is large enough to store a decent amount of data and small enough to keep the price on this model low. For all but the heaviest file users this is still plenty of storage.
Downsides to the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302
Unlike many of the new models that have been hitting the market over the last few months the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302 does not come with a touchscreen. On top of this it does feature Microsofts latest operating system in Windows 8 which is best suited to one of these new touchscreen devices. Hopefully with the recent release of Windows 8.1 which is suppose to correct some of these issues this will be less of a concern.
The weight of this budget friendly model is quite good at only 5.3 pounds but the total thickness of 1.4 inches puts it well above the majority of other options on the market and makes it a less then mobile friendly model.
Verdict on the Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302
The Toshiba Satellite C55-A5302 is a very nice low cost option while still providing a bit more then the bare minimum when it comes to performance and features. If your looking for a cheap option but wanting to avoid some of the problems that come along with purchasing the very lowest priced models this seems to be a great option.
